Our mission

Our main focus is to promote language learning and cultural exchange. For us, it's very important for people to be able to build a community, to create a space where they feel safe and at home.

We understand that travelling is a big part of today's world and we love it so much that we want to embrace it. Travelling allows us to expand how we view the world and ourselves, and language plays a big part in that. It allows us to communicate with people in ways we never thought of, allowing us to experience the culture and the region on a deeper level.

What we propose is a fully immersive travel experience, one where you can (re)discover the beauties of a language and the people who use it everyday. Whether it is asking the cashier at the supermarket for what local wine she recommends or sharing a moment with one the neighboors, language unites us all and invites us to a whole new world of possibilities.

Meet our team

Patrícia Abreu

Co-founder and CEO

Educator and passionate about languages and teaching since very young, Patrícia speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian, and is currently learning German. With a degree in Education from Brazil and a IUFM Master from France, she has been working with kids from all over the world in friLingue's language camps since 2017. Language Workation is her newest passion project, as she is keen on helping people connect to locals on a deeper level when they travel.
Philipp Weber

Co-founder

As a Swiss, Philipp grew up around multiple languages. He went on do to a few exchanges to improve both his English and his French. With a degree in Economics, he combined his business knowledge with his passion for languages and created friLingue with the goal of proving learning a language can be a fun and pleasurable experience. Having been a nomad himself, Philipp believes in the importance of building a community and sharing knowledge amongst ourselves.

OUR STORY

In 2007, friLingue was created with the intention of offering high quality language camps for kids in Switzerland where they can learn through fun activities. Our mission is to ensure the kids can find out the joy of learning a new language while having fun!

In 2020,Coliving.frilingue was created to offer a space for digital nomads and travelers that would allow them to build a community with like-minded people while also exploring the best of what Switzerland and Montenegro have to offer.

Language Workation is a combination of both these projects, mixing our passion for communicating in different language teaching with the possibility of working with adults who want to have the opportunity to learn something and engage with the culture of where they are.

Our very first edition, the French Workation in the French speaking part of the Swiss Alps, happened in summer 2024. It was a beautiful experience where people from very different backgrounds got together to explore French language and culture, while also learning about local customs from their teachers and, most importantly, directly from the locals.
